Holcim Ltd.
Holcim is one of the world's leading suppliers of cement and aggregates (crushed stone, sand and gravel) as well as further activities such as ready-mix concrete and asphalt including services. The Group holds majority and minority interests in more than 70 countries on all continents, and employs some 90,000 people.

Holcim Foundation
The Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction promotes sustainable responses to the technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues affecting building and construction.

Activities including Holcim Awards competitions, Holcim Forum symposiums, seed funding for building initiatives and grants for research projects encourage innovative approaches to sustainable construction.

The objective of the Holcim Foundation is the non-commercial promotion and development of sustainable construction at national, regional and global levels.

AfriSam (South Africa)
AfriSam (South Africa) (Pty) Limited, with total assets in excess of R3.7 billion and a staff complement of more than 2 000, is one of the largest suppliers of construction related materials in Southern Africa. The company is controlled by AfriSam (Pty) Ltd in which the shareholding is:

  • 15% held by Holcim Limited, a Swiss cement group with operations in over 70 countries.
  • 85% held by AfriSam Consortium (Pty) - a broad based black economic empowerment consortium. AfriSam Consortium is owned by Bunker Hills; community and women's groups; and employees of AfriSam (Pty).



Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) was incorporated in September 1996 as a private company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 212). The DSE is therefore a non-profit making body created to facilitate the Government implementation of the economic reforms and in future to encourage the wider share ownership of privatized and all the companies in Tanzania and facilitate raising of medium and log-term capital.
