The board is primarily responsible for setting the broad direction of the company by approving strategic objectives, key policies and financial performance criteria.

Accountability to shareholders and responsibility to other stakeholders remains of paramount consideration in board decisions, being balanced against the demands of the regulatory environment in which the group operates.


	Prof. Samuel Wangwe Tanzanian Phd (Economics), BA (Economics)	Ag Board Chairman Professor Samuel Wangwe is a highly respected academic. He is the Executive Director of REPOA, a policy think tank on development challenges. Professor Wange has published extensively.
	Erik Westerberg Swedish Mechanical Engineer	Managing Director (Executive) Erik Westerberg joined Tanga Cement Company Limited as the Managing Director on 1 August 2010. Prior to joining the company, Erik worked with Heidelberg Cement Group where he held various managerial positions in Nigeria and Ghana. He also worked for many years with SKF Africa as regional manager for Sub-Sahara Africa.
	Khamis Omar Tanzanian Msc (Development Studies), PGD (Business Admnistration), Advanced Diploma (Tax Management)	Non-Executive Director Khamis Omar is the Principal Secretary, President’s Office - Finance, Economy and Development Planning in Zanzibar. Mr. Omar also serves on various boards including the Zanzibar Revenue Board, Bank of Tanzania and the Tanzania Revenue Authority.
	Cornelius Kariwa Tanzanian LLB (Hons)	Non-Executive Director Cornelius Kariwa is a lawyer and has been a practising advocate since 1994. He is also a founding partner and managing counsel of a law firm Kariwa & Co. Advocates. Mr. Kariwa is currently the Chairperson of the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE).
	Dr. Stephan Olivier South African Ph.D (Biochemistry)	Non-Executive Director Dr Stephan Olivier has been the acting CEO of AfriSam South Africa since April 2010 and was recently appointed substantively. He has held various positions in AfriSam, including Director of Marketing and Chief Operating Officer for cement operations.
	Khadija Simba Tanzanian	Non-Executive Director Khadija Simba an entrepreneur, founder and Managing Director of Kays Hygiene Products Limited. Founder and Managing Director of Diamond Distributors Services Limited. Founding member and Chairperson of Kawe Women Economic Development Trust Fund (KAWEDETF). Mrs. Simba serves on various boards, committees and councils including the TCCIA, CTI, TPSF, TNBC, COSTECH, EADB, Commercial Court Users Committee, Tanzania Women’s Bank Limited.
	Duncan Matshoba South African BCom, BCompt Hons, CTA	Non-Executive Director Duncan Matshoba joined AfriSam as the Chief Financial Officer on 1 July 2009. Prior to joining AfriSam he held the positions of General Manager: Operations and Credit Risk at Nedbank, as well as Associate Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Chief Financial Officer for the Royal Bafokeng Resources Pty Ltd. He is a registered Chartered Accountant and holds a BCom and a BCompt Hons degree as well as a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA).
	David Lee British FCCA	Company Secretary David Lee joined Tanga Cement Company Limited as the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary in April 2011. Prior to joining the company, David held various positions including of Finance Manager at Sandvik Mining and Construction Zimbabwe, Finance Manager at Zimbabwe Photo Marketing, Finance Director and Company Secretary with SKF Zimbabwe, Group Financial Controller Intertec Africa Limited for Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique, as well as Regional Finance Director SKF Sub-Sahara region.
